ABOUT ZANE'S CHIRON LECTURE

In 1977, astronomer Charles Kowal discovered a body in-between the orbits of Saturn and Uranus, which he first thought was a planet, and indeed newspapers such as The New York Times headlined the story with "Tenth Planet Discovered." Zane led the astrological research into this new body (which Charles eventually named Chiron) and published the first astrological text on Chiron a few years later. This body is now included in most astrology software programs, and much has been written about it since it's discovery. Many astrologers are content to use the early findings on Chiron (The Wounded Healer) in their counseling sessions.

However, Chiron has many more levels than was initially surmised. We have learned so much more about Chiron's symbolism in the forty years since it was discovered. Zane will take you through some of the more "traditional" meanings ascribed to Chiron, and then explore some of the many additional levels of meaning astrologers have been uncovering over the past four decades.

ABOUT ZANE B. STEIN

Astrology entered Zane’s life when he was 17 and has traveled with him wherever he’s gone ever since. He has assisted clients from all but one of the earth's 7 continents.

Zane sees astrology as a roadmap for one's personal hero's journey, helping one to find the best pathways, overcome the obstacles, and work towards becoming whole. He believes one's astrological chart helps one to understand, communicate with, and learn from the universe through what Carl Jung so aptly described as archetypes.

The year 1977 brought a whole new dimension to Zane’s astrological career, for it was then that he began studying the newly discovered body Chiron, spearheading what became a worldwide research program. His book, "Essence and Application: A View From Chiron" has been called a truly groundbreaking book on this body, and is still the most widely read text on Chiron. Zane has been called the world's leading authority on Chiron.

He was also one of the astrologers in the forefront exploring other Centaurean bodies, such as Pholus and Nessus, and has been particularly excited watching the meanings unfold as we learn about Chariklo, the body named after Chiron's spouse.

Zane’s articles on various Centaurs, including Chariklo, have appeared in a number of astrological publications, most notably The Mountain Astrologer. He has lectured throughout the USA, Canada, England, Ireland, and, more recently, all around his new home, Australia. Zane was a long-time member of MAAS before moving to Australia
