Marvin Roberson, Sierra Club's Michigan Chapter Forest Ecologist will discuss forest succession in Michigan.

Synopsis: When a disturbance (fire, windstorm) happens in forests, the forests change composition. This process is called “Forest Succession,” and it’s the driving force behind all of the forest management decisions in Michigan.

About Marvin: Marvin Roberson is the Sierra Club Michigan Chapter’s Forest Ecologist. A lifelong Michigan resident, Marvin has lived in the Upper Peninsula since 1987. He has been active at the local, state, and national levels of the Sierra Club, and has been passionate about protecting and restoring Michigan’s native forest biodiversity since the mid-80s.
