We always have a great time with this event every year, but with all of the pandemic stuff going on, and the state of NY calling state of emergency effective 12/3, this year we'll keep to more lightly trafficked areas between NJ and Staten Island.
For this one, we start hiking from Elizabeth Station and must use on street parking, or take a train from further north to that point.
We then walk Elizabeth River Greenway, which is pretty nice, down to the new Goethels Bridge which we walk to Staten Island. From there, we take back streets and trails to the awesome Staten Island Greenbelt system, which weaves us southeast, then north, and we eventually walk back to NJ via the Bayonne Bridge.
Some of us will be leaving cars in Bayonne at on street parking on Dennis P. Collins Park.
This time I am posting the starting point as the meeting point with hopes that since there is tons of Uber and public trans, we can find our own ways out when we're ready to go.
Those traveling from NY City or close public trans can simply take the light rail from Bayonne at the end.
Others can arrange to spot cars on W 1st Street in Bayonne and then shuttle to maybe on street parking on Westfield Ave. I posted meet time as 9 am here so that it would provide time to arrange the car shuttles or public trans for everyone.
Remember that if you want to park at Elizabeth Station, it is paid parking even on weekends.
Please be prepared, use restrooms, etc because we can't be waiting up for everyone. I'm putting more responsibility on the participant for this one than is customary.
If needed, I am at 908 343 8374
