Online MI Python: Webscraping & Browser Control with BeautifulSoup and Selenium

A brief overview of scraping webpages with the requests, Selenium, and BeautifulSoup. The talk will cover the basics of downloading page content with requests (or via a Selenium-controlled browser, when the site necessitates it).

It will also cover how to determine the best identifiers on a webpage, so they can be passed to BeautifulSoup for parsing.

PRESENTER:
Evan Stone is an attorney and Python developer in Ann Arbor, Michigan. He currently works as an in-house developer at a law firm, designing workflow automation. He hails from the Dallas area of Texas, where he spent twelve years at FUNimation Entertainment (now part of Sony Pictures) serving as Legal Counsel in charge of content protection and rights enforcement. There, in addition to his duties as Counsel, he developed an entire suite of proprietary apps for locating, logging, and reporting infringing content online.
