2017 Godless Potluck Picnic

You are invited to eat and play with us at Michigan Atheists’ 40th Godless Picnic on Sunday June 11th, 2017. We will start gathering at noon and plan to stay into the evening as we’ll have plenty of daylight. We will be celebrating the Summer Solstice, rain or shine. This event is sponsored by Michigan Atheists.

We provide some fried chicken, water, cups, plates, utensils, grills and charcoal for grilling, and a DJ. Please make a note of what you're bringing in the comments below.

Atheists, Agnostics, Freethinkers, Humanists, Skeptics, etc. are encouraged to bring banners, signs and literature.

Bring the kids! We have a nice play area at the site. We are right on a creek and over the bridge is a disc golf course (we have some discs if you don’t have your own). Suggested items to bring for more fun are lawn/table games, musical instruments, lawn chairs, sunscreen, insect repellent, etc.

The pavilion is also near a handicapped accessible restroom as well.

Dogs and other pets are permitted in parks only when kept on a leash not over six feet in length and kept under the immediate control of some responsible person. They are not permitted in nature areas, on beaches or in buildings. The owner will assume full responsibility for all pets. Guide dogs and assistance dogs are permitted in all areas.

Hines Park Waterford Bend Shelter is on Northville Rd., just North of 6 Mile, West of i275 / i-96, north of M-14. between Northville and Plymouth, in Northville Township. Unlike most other picnic areas within Hines Park, it is NOT on Hines Drive. See the directions below:

From the north (Walled Lake),
• M-5 south,
• Continue on i275/i96 south to exit 170, turn right at end of ramp,
• Six Mile Rd west 2.2 miles, turn right,
• Northville Rd north 0.1 miles to Waterford Bend Picnic Shelter on left.

From the east (Detroit),
• I-96 west to about mile marker 173,
• i275/i96 north to exit 170, turn left at end of ramp,
• Six Mile Rd west 2.5 miles, turn right,
• Northville Rd north 0.1 miles to Waterford Bend Picnic Shelter on left.

From the south (Detroit Metropolitan Airport),
• I-275 north,
• Continue on i275/i96 north to exit 170, turn left at end of ramp,
• Six Mile Rd west 2.5
miles, turn right,
• Northville Rd north 0.1 miles to Waterford Bend Picnic Shelter on left.

From the west (Ann Arbor),
• M-14 east to exit 20, turn right at end of ramp,
• Sheldon Rd north 1.6 miles, turn right,
• Six Mile Rd east 0.7 miles, turn left,
• Northville Rd north 0.1 miles to Waterford Bend Picnic Shelter on left.
