Agenda

6.15pm – 6:30pm Meet & Greet

6:30pm - 7:30pm: Getting Started with Azure Data Factory (Reiss McSporran)

This interactive session will give you the baseline knowledge you need, to start exploring how Azure Data Factory (ADFv2) can be used to move and transform data in the cloud.

We will start by creating a Data Factory, then connect to a data source, extract a few columns from a table, filter these down and insert them into an Azure SQL DB.

Then we’ll explore how we can make this more flexible, by using metadata to drive the extract statements, the tables to extract, the data sources and the destinations.

We will then take a look at Mapping Data Flows and how these can be used to replace your existing SSIS packages completely at a basic level.
By the end of the session you’ll have seen how to build this from nothing to a fully working solution that can then be expanded upon to bring to enterprise level.

7:30pm - 8:00pm Break & Pizza

8:00pm – 9:00pm Power BI Tips and Tricks (Jon Lunn)
Power BI Tips and Tricks: A variety of tips that have proved useful in the Power BI Desktop workflow, DAX and M. Subjects will include, the Selection Pane, Visual Headers and DAX optimisation quick wins.
