Meetup details changed: I meant for this to be a noon hike and NOT morning. Please note the updated time for our "Last Minute Hike at Gunpowder! The Wildlands Loop: A 5 Mile Moderate Hike"

From: Kellie C.

I've updated this Meetup for tomorrow hike that I JUST posted (last minute hike) to start at noon. The start time was a typo so please note it starts at noon and NOT at 10:00 a.m.

RSVP Here:

Gunpowder Falls State Park! Join Us for an Easy Side of Moderate Hike of 5 Miles in the Wildlands Area!

Let's Enjoy the Trail Covered in This Beautiful Blanket of Snow!

T his loop follows the upland forests of the fall zone, crossing a few streams (pretty much non-existent in the winter) and visiting a pleasant waterfall, then meanders downstream along Big Gunpowder Falls as it leaves the piedmont. Watching Big Gunpowder Falls sliding through several narrow gorges, it is hard to believe that only 5 miles downstream the falls will spread to a deltalike, broad river more than a mile wide." Pace Options

This hike will be about that of an average hiker and considered a moderate pace, not too slow or too fast. The group settles into a comfy pace after about a mile and each hike is unique but you can expect about a 2.5 mile pace. If there are enough people for two groups (over 15), then we vary paces according to the needs of those there.

Hike Meetup Time is 12:00 p.m. (Noon)

Please remember we are a social hiking group that values fellowship and camaraderie and practice good hike etiquette . We take breaks as necessary and have at least one guide in the front in addition to a "sweeper" in the back and no hiker is left behind. If you get upset because someone has to rest at the top of a hill etc. then find another group! We are very supportive, encouraging, and focus on safety while getting or staying fit on the trail and practicing Leave No Trace outdoor ethics.

Fido is Welcome on This Hike!

Please be sure to take a leaders number with you just in case and see you there for good times out on the trail!
