What we're about
Welcome! We are a secular homeschool group dedicated to providing friends, fun, field trips, and social gatherings. Durning the school year we offer two meetups a week - an academic opportunity on Wednesday (such as computer coding classes, book club, museums, or tours) and a social activity on Friday (park days, skating, NERF battles, play days). We meet throughout the DFW area.
Mid Cities Homeschool Group is for anyone in the DFW area who is homeschooling. We are an inclusive group that celebrates diversity. We strongly encourage a non-judgmental and open environment in which we can discuss homeschooling ideas. Everyone's ideas are welcome and appreciated.
Mid Cities Homeschool Group is an all-volunteer, zero-profit homeschool cooperative. The cost of weekly activities varies with the activity and is paid to either the volunteer organizer of the activity or the organization offering the activity.
1) We ask that you keep your commitment when you RSVP to an event. If you discover that you cannot attend an event, we ask that you update your RSVP in a reasonable amount of time. If you are running especially late to an event, we ask that you comment on the event page in a reasonable amount of time. If you are unable to keep your commitment by updating your RSVP or commenting when running late on more than 3 occasions in a 3 month period, you will be removed from the group.
2) We understand that everyone's circumstances are different and that this is not always going to be possible; however, we ask that you make an attempt to attend at least one event a month. if you are inactive for three months, you will be removed from the group.
3) Our group is comprised of families from a wide variety of backgrounds and we welcome, with open arms, people of all faiths. We encourage an open atmosphere where kids and adults can express their beliefs freely (without proselytizing), while respecting each others differences.
4) We have a zero tolerance policy for violence. As with any group setting, we fully anticipate conflicts amongst the kids. We view this as an opportunity for them to learn conflict resolution techniques with the love and guidance of our homeschool family. If you witness a conflict, please make a concerted effort to reach out to the parents so that they are aware of what is happening and can intervene as they see fit. That being said, if a child is consistently seeking out opportunities to hurt other children without successful parental intervention, the family of that child will be asked to leave the group.
