Dinner Meeting

Hello Everyone,

Mark your calendar for the upcoming Dinner Meeting to be held at 5:00 PM, Sunday, July 28, 2013. In keeping with the “Humanist” component of our organization, we feature educational programs at our monthly Dinner Meetings that cover a broad range of topics of interest to the membership.

This month’s featured speaker is Dr. Timothy Maloney who will be presenting on proposed new technology in energy generation. The energy sources our country currently depends on include the following:

1. wind

2. solar

3. hydro

4. fossil-fuel power plant

5. nuclear power plant

Dr. Maloney advocates employing a revolutionary means of energy generation in nuclear power plants that would use the chemical element “thorium” instead of “uranium” which is currently used in nuclear reactors. Count on being enlightened by Dr. Maloney’s presentation on the Cost Effectiveness and Numerous Environmental Benefits in Thorium-Fueled Nuclear Energy.

Speaker Profile:
Dr. Maloney is a retired professor of Electronics Technology, Monroe County Community College. He has a BS in Engineering, a MS in Electrical Engineering, and a PhD in Educational Psychology.

He has author several books and publications, including "Modern Industrial Electronics" - eds. 1-5, Inventor of "Digital Method for DC Motor Speed Control", and IEEE Transactions on Control Instrumentation, Feb 1976, Vol. 23, No. 1.

Dr. Maloney had also been Chairman for a panel discussion on "Thorium-Fueled Nuclear Energy" at the 2012 Left Forum Conference as well as for a panel discussion on "Post Oil, Wind, Water & Solar or Liquid-fuel Thorium, and on What's Our Best Hope? at the 2013 Left Forum Conference.

Dinner and Socializing will be from 5:00 PM to 6:15 PM.
Presentation will start at 6:30 PM.

Professor Maloney gave a very excellent and convincing presentation for the case of using thorium reactors as compared to traditional nuclear reactors
