I'll assume you read Schlock, then. ;)

Yes, your small size still affects AC normally. It's just "armor" and "natural armor" bonuses that are houseruled.

I can't say that you qualify for the "well-versed" aspect or not, but from what DM John was saying to me, just knowing D&D lore doesn't work. I'd also say (though this is MY OWN opinion, mind!) that the movies don't count. Peter Jackson changed a lot when it came to fantasy style, and that seems to be what DM John wants.?

Describing your character doesn't necessarily need a narrative. I'll give you some questions that I give my own players:

What does your character look like? What is it that your stats actually describe in "real" life? If you have low Con, is it because you're thin and delicate or were you ravaged by disease as a child? If you have low Cha, is it because you aren't assertive or are you brash and arrogant? Eye color? Hair length? Does he stutter or is he a smooth operator?

What clothing does your character wear, and how does he wear it? Sloppy? Trim??Is his armor pristine or dented from years of battle? Does he have a particular "look" from a sigil or tabbard??

Nationality and Organization
Where are you from? Who do you hang out with??

Farmboy? Nobleman? Orphan or part of a large family? Rich? Poor? Was there a war, or decades of peace and prosperity? What led you to the life you have now?

How does your character act? How does your character really think, and is it different from what he presents to everyone else? What are your motivations??

Character Flaws
No one is perfect; what are your character's problems? No neuroses, psychoses, or weirdoses if you can help it, but what about your character would be "wrong" to other people -- and does your character know this or think everyone else is strange?

Recent History
Your character didn't spawn out of nothing. What's he been up to lately? How did he get here specifically? Did you just slay a dragon, or was that just a story to impress a barmaid? Were you a mercenary, or a noble knight? Are you out for fun or are you ?hard up for work?

Personal Quests and Goals
You know where you're coming from now -- so where are you going? What drives your character? What will cause him to fight to the last breath, and what is worth living for?

Attitude to?
- Opposite Sex - Womanizer or gentleman?
- Other Races - Do you hate elves, or just everyone? Or just open-minded?
- Other Classes - Are fighters dumb jocks, and wizards?effeminate nerds?
- Other Religions - The goddess of nature is boring, but the goddess of love isn't -- or is she?

See if that helps you get about 400 on paper. It's really not that hard. You just need the right questions to solidify that extra information.?
