Abstract:
Quantum computers are computational devices, which exploit quantum mechanical principles to do computation. Quantum computers promise to do computation more powerfully than by conventional computers. In this talk, the mathematical foundations and potential applications of quantum computers will be presented.
Quantum computers arise as potential alternative for classical computers since the development in classical computers will come to an end by 2020 according to Moore’s Law, where the size of the components will hit the quantum level. Mathematics comes in the heart of quantum computation, where development in quantum computers needs many fields in mathematics. Connection between various areas in quantum computing and different fields in mathematics will be presented.
