Needs a location
I have applied for a wilderness permit for 3 people for Upper Royal Basin in Olympic National Park. The plan is to hike in and spend 2 nights in the upper basin above Royal Lake with a layover day for exploring the beautiful scenery, tarns and meadows. The approach hike is around 8 miles with 3000 feet of elevation gain. You will be required to store your food in a bear canister which you should obtain ahead of time. In the event the permit is not obtained, an alternative destination with similar mileage and a layover day will be chosen. I am considering The South Tieton River near White Pass.
