Kafka Connect in Practice

Hey Kafkateers!

Dopo lo spoiler di qualche settimana fa, è giunta l'ora di annunciarvi tutti i dettagli del terzo Apache Kafka meetup milanese: si terrà il 9 maggio e sarà ospitato dai nostri amici di Mikamai/Linkme (Via Giulio e Corrado Venini 42, Milano, raggiungibile comodamente in metro, fermata Pasteur). Si parlerà di Kafka Connect, scendendo nel tecnico delle sue API guidati dall'esperienza di Edmondo sui sistemi di Credimi. ;)

Talk

Title: "Kafka Connect in Practice"

Speaker: Edmondo Porcu, Credimi

Bio: Edmondo is a Scala enthusiast and a passionate developer, with particular interest in distributed systems and concurrent applications. Before joining Credimi as a CTO and co-founder, he has been working in France, Switzerland and United Kingdom. He met Kafka for the first time in 2014 while developing an event-sourcing based application.

Abstract: Kafka has emerged as a leading messaging solution: its ecosystem plays a key part in many architectures. Credimi is gradually switching from AWS Kinesis to Kafka as better tools means increased developer productivity, less code to write, faster time to market. In this talk we will go through a quick reminder of what the ecosystem today is, we'll focus briefly on one of our favourite tools and then we'll dig deeper in the API of Kafka Connect and how we modified an existing sink to support our use case.
