What we're about

A forum for soccer fans to play the game they love on a weekly basis under summer skies in the great outdoors. We are currently speaking with several local businesses to help sponsor this particular event. For now, jerseys, refreshments, and field rental will be provided at no cost to our members. Initially, we will be hosting 2 soccer games commencing 5:30pm Sunday June 26th, 2016. It is recommended that players arrive a little earlier to receive their "donated" jersey a min. of 15 mins before game time. All jerseys will be collected after each match and machine washed, dried, and ready for following weeks' game. The first game scheduled will be the "advanced/intermediate" game that will commence @ 5:30pm sharp. This game will be subsequently followed by the Co-ed Soccer game that will commence @ 7:15pm sharp. You may (if you wish) RSVP to play both games. You may not just arbitrarily bring a guest. That guest, must also RSVP for their spot. You may RSVP on either the Meet Up or Facebook pages. Players will be selected on a 1st come, 1st served basis with NO prejudice. There will be a $5 cover charge that must be paid to the organizers before players enter the field. Each team will be expected to field 11 players with a min. of 2 reserve players per side. Players are expected to rotate in at a fair and respectful pace. Attendance will be taken before each game and it is determined that a player has RSVP'd and "did not show" on two different occasions per calendar year, that player will be removed from our Group or face a $25 fine that will go towards our year-end party. Details relating to game schedule, rules, cancellations, code of conduct, & other misc. information will be posted on both the Meet Up and Facebook pages.

Advanced/Intermediate Game:

Teams will be selected by Meet-Up organizers based on a quick visual assessment of all players. The obvious purpose for this is to balance out the teams. The "Advanced/Intermediate" game is proposed to be one that is moderately competitive and will be governed by a general "understanding" of game rules, fairplay, respect, & courtesy for all. We fully understand that "things" may get a little heated at times, but many of us have to work the next day, so we are asking that all players to conduct themselves appropriately and in accordance with "our" Pick-Up rules. The "general rules" can be accessed right here on our Meet Up page. If you are having difficulty accessing these rules or perhaps you may have some questions relating to these rules, please feel free to contact either Meet-Up organizers Chris Higashi chigashi@remax.net or Karim Choghri. At the moment, we do not have a referee for this event, it is something that we are seriously considering, but do to either cost and/or availability, we are going to experiment with self-governance. That being said, the Meet Up organizers will be the ones (at their own/mutual discretion) to determine what penalty/infraction/result will be forthcoming based on their assessment of any given contested situation. If need be, a referee may be called to action at a later date, but for now, we are simply observing the honour system.

*** It is important for all players RSVPing for this event to "understand" that this event is not intended for the casual soccer enthusiast, but has been created for those players whom feel that they are able to "compete" at an "intermediate/advanced" level. Once you have remitted payment for this event, there is a 0 refund policy. Players are strongly advised to bring their own water bottle, cleats, soccer shin guards, jock/jill, and mouth guards (are optional). Please refer to Pick Up rules & regulations for further details regarding this particular game. Organizers of this event take no responsibility or endorsement for any player's poor behaviour/antics. The organizers do not necessarily know or are able to psychologically assess any/all players and deem them fit for such an event. That being said, the organizers are committed to enforcing all of the rules and disbanding any member who we feel harms the reputation of this event or compromises the safety of any/all players in attendance.

Co-ed (Non-Competitive) Game:

Teams will be selected by Meet-Up organizers based on a quick visual assessment of all players. The obvious purpose for this is to balance out the teams. The Co-Ed game is proposed to be one that is moderately competitive and will be governed by a general "understanding" of game rules, fairplay, respect, & courtesy for all. The "general rules" can be accessed right here on our Meet Up page. If you are having difficulty accessing these rules or perhaps you may have some questions relating to these rules, please feel free to contact either Meet-Up organizers Chris Higashi chigashi@remax.net or Karim Choghri. At the moment, we don't believe it necessary or even pressing to commission a referee since this game is meant to be a "fun" or "non-competitive" game. Slide tackling, aggressive/wreckless/negligent play, overpowering strikes, physical play (such as: shoving, pushing, elbowing, biting, etc) are strictly prohibited and will not be tolerated while on the pitch. That being said, the Meet Up organizers will be the ones (at their own/mutual discretion) to determine what penalty/infraction/result will be forthcoming based on their assessment of any given contested situation. If need be, a referee may be called to action at a later date, but for now, we are simply observing the honour system.
