A couple months ago, you may remember I mentioned we were looking for a quality candidate to take over my active role in the group and work more closely with Joel. Well, we've found that person! I'm proud to announce that Jeremy Dee is the new Co-organizer of MKEPUG (with Joel, of course!) For those of you who don't know Jeremy (and know me - and how I LOVE to make people introduce themselves...), Jeremy has this to say:
Let me introduce myself. My name is Jeremy Dee, I started using PHP seven years ago. Since 1996, I’ve developed and maintained a desktop health insurance quoting - contact management - communications app. Originally written in Microsoft Visual Foxpro, I’ve moved much of it to PHP as the web has matured. Coming from the shrinking developer pool surrounding FoxPro, I was drawn by PHP’s community as much as its accessibility. As a self taught solo developer, I’ve found that MKEPUG provides both great camaraderie and exposure to ideas and technologies that, while not always immediately applicable, get me thinking. I always leave the meeting invigorated with a renewed interest in PHP and programming in general.
As I mentioned before, I will be around, but I really look forward to seeing what a bit of new leadership can do to propel our group forward. Make sure to welcome Jeremy to the leadership team by sending a message to him on meetup.com. Can't wait to see everyone in January (remember, no meetup in Dec). Let's continue striving to make a better MKEPUG: Best People. Best Practices.
