Hello, everyone:

This event will help you pick up the skills of meditation by avoiding the pitfalls. This event is for everyone who is interested in practising mindfulness to deal with the issues in life (though such an expectation should not be held): if you are a newbie, you will learn the meditation techniques; if you are an adept meditator, just join and do the meditation together.

In this event, let's first focus on the meditation techniques and common pitfalls; then I will lead a philosophy discussion, where everyone observes their mind reflect upon their discovery. I will cover the topics mainly via Buddhist philosophy (Zen), neurophilosophy and Krishnamurti's teaching without abstruse terms. Most importantly, you need to reply on your observance not my words to understand your mind.

Observance is never easy, because it requires one to be non-judgmental and present, to let go of the past experience and knowledge, to face the issue, not run away from it, not to seek any authority, which is very contrary to most people's lifestyle. That's why we do meditation to pick up the ability to observe the mind.

Observing is the only way to understand the mind, the only way to solve your life problems.

Mindfulness is all about the truth of the mind and shaping your thinking based on the truth not any illusions. Via mindfulness, you and only you will help yourself find the best solution to your own issues, which means wisdom.

This event lasts 1-2 hours, but a relaxing chat after is possible if you want to stay.

Fees: free, but it is open to voluntary donations, via: https://events.mindiver.se/page/support-mindiverse/.

Basic schedule

  1. Beginning, preclude.
  2. Meditation basics, for any beginners attending the session or as a warm-up discussion. It is always good to revise our technique in such a discussion.
  3. Guided Meditation 1
  4. A keynote speech followed/interspersed by Q&A and light-hearted chat, discussion. (It aims for an open and stress-free environment where everyone could listen attentively, reflect and sincerely converse. This is an occasion where people mainly practice self-reflection, so if you speak, please be mindful and NOT dump conclusions, notice your emotion, be aware of the impact of strong words and radical viewpoints on the people in this room.)
  5. Guided Meditation 2 to end the session (everyone leaves with peace and calm).

The event maintains the openness at the greatest level. All the resources used in the session can be found via https://events.mindiver.se/resource/

Who is the speaker in the session?

The speaker is Chao (Cico) Zhang (https://hi-it.org), a researcher, a mathematician and thinker focusing on mind, neurophilosophy, artificial intelligence and biology. His diverse background and unique experience gives him the opportunity to observe the mind in many different perspectives without getting trapped in any of them. He and his wife Joyce have recently started Mindiverse, an initiative to share the wisdom across eastern and western world via mindfulness.

More information about the events organized by Mindiverse, check out https://events.mindiver.se

The event is spread via different channels, here is only one of them; some people join in via Facebook event, so the actual number of the attendees may differ from the number shown here.

From 2020, the session will be fully recorded as a YouTube video to benefit more people. The camera faces only the speaker himself. The speaker uses a wireless lavalier microphone for the best capture of the speaker's sound. The mindfulness session is an open discussion for philosophy and mind and there is no privacy involved in this event. If you're not comfortable with this, you may choose not to join on the spot, and if you like, you could watch the Youtube video later at https://www.youtube.com/c/mindiverse/
