Mindful Meditation Mondays
*** This meeting has a regular group of "non-Meetup" members that show up every week. Seeing only 1 or 2 RSVPs here does not indicate how many will actually attend*** Mindfulness Meditation Mondays is designed for those wanting to start or deepen their meditation practice and to understand the original teachings upon which it is based. Mindfulness meditation – also called Vipassana or Insight meditation – helps you deal with the stresses of living. It teaches you to sit with calm and serenity within the activity of body and mind to find freedom from automatic, unconscious reactivity. It teaches equanimity with the ups and downs of life and is a wonderful addition to any spiritual or personal growth program. It is a path to deeply understand the sources of human suffering and find freedom from it. Meeting content: Sessions include guided meditations, brief readings, discussions and Q&A. We are currently studying the book titled, The Mind Illuminated by Culadasa. If you plan to attend regularly, it strongly recommended that you purchase the book so that you can follow along. While each lesson can stand alone, they are gradually progressive, and it’s encouraged that members try to attend regularly. Dana Practice: In the Buddhist tradition, the teachings are given freely because they are considered priceless. We practice dana, or generosity, by making monetary offerings for the teachings. Dana is not payment for goods or services rendered; it is given from the heart. Your generosity is a gift that supports not just the availability of the teachings, but also the community of other students, and your own practice. Donations go to expenses of rent, copies, snacks, and a donation to the author of these lessons. ADDRESS: Hillcrest Congregational Church, 404 Gregory Lane, Pleasant Hill. FINDING THE PARKING LOT: The church property goes from Kahrs Ave. to Rolling Green Circle on Gregory Ln. The parking lot is on Gregory at the corner with Rolling Green. From Contra Costa Blvd., go past the main church sign at Kahrs and turn left into the lot just before the corner with Rolling Green. From Taylor Rd/ Grayson Blvd direction, turn right into lot at corner of Rolling Green. FROM THE PARKING LOT: Follow the path to the quad area, take first left, Room #10 is the second door on the left. What we're about

Mindful Meditation for Calm, Clarity & Liberation

Mondays, 6:30 to 7:45 PM, Rm #10 at Hillcrest Church, 404 Gregory Ln., Pleasant Hill, CA

This group is for those who want to deepen their understanding and practice of meditation practices drawn from the rich tradition of Buddhist Mindfulness meditation (also known as Insight Meditation or Vipassana). We use guided meditation, talks, readings and discussions that teach us to sit with calm and serenity within the movements of the often troublesome mind.

This group is about:

Learning effective meditation techniques through guided practice • Fellowship & support to strengthen your meditation program

What we do: • Practice 20 min guided meditation exercises to help establish physical and mental calm, concentration, and insights into ourselves about “how things work” • Read or listen to materials that offer instruction on mindfulness • Share experiences about our meditation and spiritual programs and learn from each other about what works.

There are members who are not a part of the Meetup group, so don't be put off if you see only 1 or 2 Meetup members signed up for an event, others will be there. This is an ongoing group; there’s no need to sign up, just show up! But your positive comments on Meetup are welcome to let others know what it was like:)

The group is supported by participant donations to cover rent and supplies. Questions? Contact Fran at frandphd@gmail. And, please visit http://www.MindfulRecoveryToday.com for related resources and links. For Facebook users, visit http://www.Facebook.com/MindfulRecovery
