Rick Landwehr will be leading this Mindful Beat meditation. This is a meditation to a simple beat using drums or other percussion instruments. Our event start time is 7:15pm. But please arrive early to settle in.

Space is limited to 23. Please do not RSVP unless you are committed to coming. Your spot would be valuable to others who want to participate. Thanks!

Our schedule:

7pm - It's great to arrive early to ask questions and find a good seat. We have chitchat time starting around 7:00. Come hang out with us, ask the teacher questions, and feel free to peruse the store.
7:15pm - Class starts.
Please note: We lock the door at 7:15pm so make sure to arrive early. Please do not disturb the class by trying to enter or knocking.
8:30pm - Class ends.

What happens during class:
The 75 minutes that we spend together will include:

  1. discussion about meditation and mindfulness
  2. instructions on how to meditate
  3. experience the Mindful Beat meditation
The length of the meditation itself will probably be about 15 to 25 minutes long. No previous experience is required; the meditation will be easy for beginners to understand.

What to bring:
You can bring your own drum, or borrow a drum from Ten Thousand Villages stock (depending upon availability). Low pitched drums work best for this meditation. This is not a drum circle, but a way of focusing on the present moment using simple, repetitive rhythm. No drumming experience or technique is required.

It's fine to just show up as you are.
Yet, please be aware that most of us do sit on the floor. Some folks choose to bring their own pillow for sitting on the floor, but there are no requirements to bring anything.

If you require a chair for health reasons, make sure to RSVP and write "please reserve a chair for me" in the comments section below. We have about seven chairs, and can accommodate 23 spots for this event.
