  • Figment Chicago

    Palmer Square Park

Summertime means get out from behind your screen/tablet/phone right? Figment Chicago is a cool one-day event featuring interactive art exhibits. This year they are relocating to Palmer Square park in Logan Square. Let's meet at this event, which runs from 11AM - 6PM on Saturday July 15. How does this relate to Minecraft, you say? Well, in my experience, a lot of what goes on in-game is inspired by things you see in the real world. There will be a lot of cool things at this event, and we can still chat about Minecraft without worrying about outlets, power cords, and laptops (though you can bring those if you like). More info about Figment here: https://www.facebook.com/events/224498154701458/

We'll be meeting at Second Shift, a coworking space in the Logan Square neighborhood. Beverages and light snacks will be offered.

  • Chicago in Minecraft

    Power Up Tech Academy

For our March meetup, we'll be checking out the awesome new high-detail map (http://www.chicagotribune.com/bluesky/originals/ct-chicago-minecraft-model-bsi-20170213-story.html#a-c28b21d8-46c0-474a-96a7-5f4cffaa71a1) of Chicago. Minecraft is great for projects involving architecture, landscape design, and urban planning. Come hear about ways you can use maps like the ones of downtown Chicago, and hear local experts talk about recent projects they have done using such maps.

  • Minecraft Basics and Family Friendly Servers

    Logan Square Library

We'll continue where we left off after our kickoff meeting. Come with your Minecraft questions. I'm hoping we can maybe have a guest speaker. I'm also encouraging kids to bring something they created in Minecraft to show and tell. One question that came up is regarding family-friendly servers for those who want to explore Multi-player options. We'll share a list of recommended sites to try.
