The aim of this group is to help more people become aware of the power of minerals in the human body.
Today, we're living in a stress-filled environment and our mind and body require more nutrition on a daily basis than our ancestors did. Unfortunately, we're getting less nutrition from our food than our parents and grandparents did. Often excess hunger and cravings for certain foods people experience reflect the body's need for nutrients that aren't sufficient in the diet.
A major cause of the problem is that our farm soils themselves are very depleted in nutrients, and as a result, our foods (even organic) are deficient in major and trace minerals, which are also among the cofactors needed to utilize vitamins. Mineral deficiency is affecting our health and increasing the risk of chronic or degenerative diseases later in life. Supplementation is now necessary if we want to achieve even adequate health, however, there are issues of safety, absorption and efficacy.
Getting adequate minerals in the diet can be of benefit for people with ADD/ADHD, allergies, arthritis, asthma, depression, diabetes, digestive disorders (celiac, Crohn's, IBS, malabsorption), fatigue, headaches (including migraines), herpes, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, immune system balancing or strengthening, insomnia, mental clarity and focus, psoriasis and other skin diseases, stress, and autoimmune disorders (rheumatoid arthritis, chronic fatigue, fibromyalgia, lupus and others), weight loss, women's health issues.
This Meetup will be of interest to anyone concerned with preventative healthcare or specific health conditions, as well as healthcare practitioners of all modalities. Let's meet and discuss our options - food, herbal remedies, supplements and supplementation choices, food preparation methods, soil amendments, etc. For more information, see the "About" page and the files under "More".
