Implementing BDD as a valuable agile development process

Details

Behaviour Driven Development (BDD) is known for tools like Cucumber and SpecFlow and its "gherkin" syntax where functional requirements are expressed as a series of "Given", "When" and "Then" scenarios. But BDD is first and foremost about cross-team communication and collaboration, and establishing a shared understanding of a company's business domain.

This meet up is hosted by Oliver Charity, one of Planday's Test Automation Engineers, who will take you through the basics of BDD - what it is and how to use it for exploring and capturing requirements, automating tests and creating living documentation.

Later, Bartek Rohard Warszawski, a Test Automation consultant, will take us on a fast-paced exploratory trip, and answer some of the more challenging questions like:

  • how does BDD fit into the development process
  • how do we apply BDD to the test automation architecture
  • how to work with Product teams capture requirements and give them appropriate test coverage

Last, but not least, we'll cover "How to implement BDD as a valuable agile developments process" and not just another piece of technology that requires maintenance.

This event is sponsored by Planday who will be providing attendees with drinks and snacks.

Oliver Charity is a test automation engineer at Planday with 3 years of work experience in test automation. He has begun the journey into Behaviour Driven Development, and will share his insights and an introduction to BDD. Oliver will be the host of this event.

Bartek Rohard Warszawski is a test automation consultant who helps teams to implement and improve their automated test frameworks. He thinks differently from most and is a well-appreciated presenter, trainer, and coach who makes people think, laugh, and learn.
