Hi everyone! First of all we want to wish you an excellent 2018! Stay tuned since this year we will be having more and even better (is that possible? ) activities than the ones we had on 2017! For starters, don't forget to check the outstanding lineup and register for Testbash Dublin 2018 here: https://dojo.ministryoftesting.com/events/testbash-dublin-2018

Now that the holiday season is gone, we are going back to our regular schedule, and to get the year started, we are having out good old friend Maciej Wyrodek discussing with us a really interesting topic.

  • Anti- Principles in test automation. Bigger brother of Anti-patterns:
Automation becomes part of tester job, but many people don't realise that to do automation well one also needs to improve his coding skills. Unfortunately, lots of testers involved in automation don't want to do that.
This is a story on one such projects: Where automation was so bloated and unmaintainable that tests were becoming useless days after being written.
I will show you look at different bad practices that lead to this point.
We will take a look at issues so deep nested and so far from any reasonable practices that calling them antipatterns is not enough.
    Those are anti-principals!
We will also talk about what can be done to save such project or if it is even worth keeping.

  • About Maciej Wyrodek :

Even though he specialises in Test Automation, his first love was Manual Testing. Currently working at Rakuten Kobo, and in free time writing his blog: http://thebrokentest.com/
Outside of face that is hard to look at he has One more thing in common with E.T., "He is coming home".
