February #MidsTest with Ben Fellows
Details
Ben Fellows will be presenting a workshop on "Riskstorming"
Not all testing is equal, because not all aspects of a software product are equal. Some aspects are more important than others or are more likely to fail in important ways. At CELCAT, we view risks in testing as anything that could go wrong in our product for the customer. The more likely something is to go wrong, or the bigger impact it will have, then the higher the risk and the more time we prioritise to testing it.
The problem is risks can be difficult to identify and agree upon. To help solve this problem, we employ a technique known as Riskstorming. Riskstorming is an idea originally developed by by Beren Van Daele (@isleoftesting) as a way to “focus a team on quality and risks”.
Ben will be taking you through a Riskstorming workshop as performed at CELCAT. The workshop will begin by going over the the features and functions of a driverless taxi, the product we'll be Riskstorming. There will then be a short introduction to the workshop including the three stages of Riskstorming: agree quality criteria, brainstorm risks and choose tests. We'll then split into small groups around a table each set up with a Riskstorming board, set of TestSphere cards, as well as pens and sticky notes required for the session. The final product will be a fully usable risk-map that can be used as a starting point in testing. At the end, there will be a few minutes to compare and contrast the different risks we've come up with together.
Due to the nature of the workshop, places will unfortunately be limited. If you're unable to attend, we'd be grateful if you could please unRSVP to possibly allow someone else to attend in your place.
