October #MidsTest with Lean Coffee

For October, rather than having a presentation for #MidsTest, we will be having a Lean Coffee session.

"What is Lean Coffee?"
Lean Coffee is a structured, but agenda-less meeting. Participants gather, build an agenda, and begin talking. Conversations are directed and productive because the agenda for the meeting was democratically generated.

"Why do Lean Coffee?"
We have chosen to do a Lean Coffee event, so that we can encourage conversations within the attendees. The Q&A's that follow our presentations can run as long as the main presentation itself, and conversations carry on into the networking afterwards. We wanted to give it some structure, and open up the conversations to larger group discussions, and see where it takes off.

"How does it work?"
Attendees fill out sticky notes with topics they want to discuss, and then we vote on them. Once voted, we discuss them for a fixed period of time, and at the end of that time we vote if we want to continue, or move onto the next topic. This is repeated until we run out of time, or topics.

Networking is until 19:00, so you are welcome to arrive early, chat with people and use the pool table.
Then the presentation will begin, followed by food & further networking until 21:00 (but you don't have to stay that late if you don't want to).

After the talk there is the opportunity for all attendees to take part in 99 Second Talks, where they can use the time to trial a presentation they plan to give, ask for help to the community, share something they are passionate about, virtually anything they can think of.

There will be food and drink for our attendees, courtesy of our fabulous sponsors - Woodrow Mercer, who will also host us in their offices in central Birmingham.
