• Godless Gamers - Board Game Night

    Fantasy Flight Games Center

Newcomers, please don't be deterred from attending by a low RSVP number. This has been a regular weekly meet up for several years now. We tend to have 5-10+ attendees beyond the number of people who RSVP on meetup. If you need to interview an atheist for a class, please email a Minnesota atheist board member. While many atheists are happy to talk about their beliefs, this meetup is focused on social gaming. Our organization will find a volunteer for you to interview at a appropriate venue. Email: [masked] Please note: Fantasy Flight Game Center is located just off Cleveland Avenue, across the street from the Roseville post office and opposite a Carquest auto parts store. There's no direct exit from 35W to County Road B2, so you may want to map your route in advance. Join us every Thursday night at the fabulous Fantasy Flight Game Center, featuring fine food, a bounty of beverages, and games galore. (Everyone is welcome to bring their favorite games, from cribbage to Carcassonne, but FFGC has an extensive library of games on hand for us to play, so no one has to bring anything.) There is a huge array available, from jump-right-in casual games to hunker-down strategic wargames. Anyone and everyone will find new favorites! We start at 6:00 p.m. and go as long as people want to—the space is available until midnight! If you arrive late and find everyone engrossed in games, don't fret—just grab something to eat or drink and sit, watch, and heckle (optional) until the next game opens up. We're always at the tables to the left of the entrance, so don't be shy—announce you're one of us and we'll welcome you into our gregarious group. If you''re not sure, most of the staff at Fantasy Flight know who we are and they can direct you! Though the menu is nice, there is no minimum purchase required for using this space. Let's continue our habit of being excellent customers, and make them happy to have us. See you there!

  • Bowling for Deities at Memory Lanes, Mpls

Memory Lanes & The Flashback Cafe

Note: If you show up late you may have to wait to join us for the second (or maybe third, if you're really late) game. It's now official: our bowling Meetup has found the right hook, strikes the right note, and spares no puns. Judging by the great time everyone has whenever we do it, Bowling for Deities is a MNA Meetup favorite. Each bowler chooses the god or goddess of his or her choice, appeals to said imaginary being, and finds out whether their particular deity rewards them with the best score. You can choose any god or goddess you like, but must be specific ("god" is just too vague). Our venue is Memory Lanes, a fun and funky bowling haven in the heart of Minneapolis. Most of us usually plan on getting three games in before retiring to the fabulous Flashback Cafe and Cocktail Lounge for a late lunch. Cost is just under $5 per game and $3.50 for shoe rental, but a valid college I.D. saves you a buck fifty per game and another dollar on shoes. For more bowling info: http://www.memorylanes.com/open-bowling-schedule/ Check out the menu at the Flashback Cafe here: http://www.memorylanes.com/menu/ Don't be a turkey—sign up now!

  • Bloomington Freethought Dinner Social

    Davanni's

Drop in and out anytime and socialize. We have the party room in the back reserved. There is a regular crowd who attends this event and attendees are not expected to RSVP on Meetup every time, so don't let the low RSVP list deter you. This event occurs every 2nd and 4th Monday of the month.

  • Freethinking Females evening at Sweeney's Saloon

    Sweeney's Saloon

Once again we're exploding the myth that atheist groups are always male dominated with this Meetup that's just for women! Come and meet with other female and female-identified freethinkers at 5:30 p.m. on the fourth Monday of each month at Sweeney's Saloon in Saint Paul. http://sweeneyssaloon.com/ We have a table reserved where we can share our stories and get to know each other. Our space is limited, so we have to cap the crowd at 10 and can't accept "maybe" RSVPs. If you sign up and later learn you can't make it, please change your RSVP so someone else can come.

  • Atheists Talk Community Brunch at Q.Cumbers

    Q. Cumbers

Atheists Talk has been on the air for 10 Years as of January 2018. We wouldn't have been able to do it without the volunteers, listeners and supporters that make up the Atheists Talk community. To help us celebrate our past successes and future endeavors, and to enjoy conversation and companionship with other local atheists - including radio interviewers, support staff and even the occasional guest! - you're invited to join us at our monthly Atheists Talk Community Brunch. We've had brunches in the past that have been well-attended, so let's go ahead and make them a regular event.

  • Freethought Toastmasters Meeting

    Larpenteur Estates Party Room

You’re invited to attend Freethought Toastmasters (http://freethought.toastmastersclubs.org/), a club of Toastmasters International (http://www.toastmasters.org/). Build your leadership and communication skills in a supportive, freethinking environment; a place where you will find familiar faces you know from Minnesota Atheists. (most club members do not RSVP on Meetup since they attend most meeting and coordinate through the 'Toastmaster' of the evening if they cannot attend, so don't let the low RSVP numbers dissuade you from attending) The Format for this meeting is Round Robin: We will have three speeches followed by small group discussions of the speeches. Each participant will have the opportunity to practice impromptu speaking based on the content of the speeches and other participants' reactions to the speeches. Edible prizes are awarded to the most convincing Round Robin participant in each small group. Schedule: • 6:00pm - Doors Open • 6:30pm - Meeting Starts • 8:00pm - Meeting Ends The roles for this meeting are as follows: TBD Toastmasters International is a world leader in communication and leadership development. While in many other Toastmaster Clubs the culture deters any mention of religion, so atheists feel guarded and often stay "in the closet," this club provides not only training in public speaking, but also continuous education in topics of interest to atheists. This club offers the opportunity to talk about a wide range of topics. We welcome people of all worldviews, but of course our members tend to be non-religious. We take current events seriously, but our politics range from capitalist to socialist, from liberal to conservative. Our ages run from the 20s to the 60s (and beyond). If you decide to join, you can learn to be a better, more confident speaker. No matter what our worldviews, we are committed to mutual respect, tolerance, honesty, encouragement and constructive criticism. If you become a member, you will have the opportunity to prepare and deliver speeches regularly, and receive constructive evaluations of your speeches. It’s a great place to become comfortable as a speaker. With the help of other members, we learn to prepare and present effective speeches on a wide range of topics from humorous to serious. We also learn to think fast during our "Table Topics" sessions (impromptu speeches). We never know quite what to expect from our speakers, but we can always count on an interesting evening together. Toastmasters International does require membership dues: $45 per six months (prorated depending on when you join) plus a $20 new member fee. The new member fee pays for speech manuals and the general membership fee pays for district events (local educational sessions for the greater Toastmasters community) and a Toastmasters magazine members receive in the mail.
