Please join us for the Fall Open House at our dojo on Wednesday, October 6, from 6:00-8:30 pm, featuring sample classes, demonstrations, and socializing.

From 6:00-6:55 we are kicking off our new Family Class and are inviting young people and their adult companions to join us for a free sample class. The class will be kid-friendly and will be designed especially those ages 6-10, but is open to anyone who considers themselves young, or who likes being around young people!

From 7:00-8:30 we will have demonstrations of Ki Aikido, socializing, and two mini-classes: "Coordinating Mind and Body in Daily Life." and "Principles of Ki-Aikido"

Feel free to come to the Family Class, the Adult Class, or both.

Aikido is a martial art that is known as the Way of Peace. We have arts, which could be called ?throws,? but we learn them as partners, not as attacker and defender or winner and loser. We work to develop mind and body coordination, which allows us to use our full strength more effectively and enables us to learn how to really relax and be calm, even in difficult or threatening situations. We also learn how to fall safely, which is useful in day to day life.

In the Family Classes parents and children do exercises and play games as well as learning the arts. We make it fun and provide a supportive, positive atmosphere. Children who take our classes become more confident and focused in school.

Ki Aikido is the first truly secular application of this art. The man who created Aikido was highly religious, but our school was founded by one of his major students, who has worked to remove the magical thinking that the founder promulgated. We use a reality based approach which people can reliably reproduce in their own experience.

We look forward to seeing you there!
