Who visits the dead? No one! That’s why cemeteries are ideal places to ride. Imagine miles of quiet, empty, winding lanes with birds serenading, magnificent trees and vistas, oh, and for the morbid, some dead people. Lunch will be at Neirs Tavern where May West got her start as a child performer. The afternoon will be in the parks of Queens. Of the 22 miles approximately 2 will be in traffic. We start at the exit of the Broadway Junction subway station at 10 am. Enter Evergreen Cemetery a few blocks away. Afterwards, take the bike path around Highland Reservoir Forest. Then onto the Cypress Hill Cemetery and lunch. Will tootle around Forest Hills and Flushing Meadow Park, ending at the 7 train at 111 St. or Mets-Willets Point. Leader: Robin Bossert Register at: https://miramar.org/memberfindme-event-list/#!event/2019/6/1/ride-cemetery-appreciation Riders who are not members of Miramar Ski Club must print and sign a liability waiver and give to the leader before participating. 70 Years Ago Miramar was born on the waters that surround NYC. How about returning to those waters to do some fishing! If the opening line confused you that;'s because you might never have heard that the Miramar Ski Club is a direct descendant of a yacht club in Brooklyn with the same name. But this isn't about that.... On Sunday June 9th Miramar members and guests are invited to come aboard the Capitol Princess for a fun day on the water. The boat departs from East 23rd Street in Manhattan and cruises for 6 hours with amazing views of the city and the bridges that connect the boroughs. Of course our destination is where the fish are waiting for us! To be clear...., you aren't fishing in the East River!! LOL That's where you'll board a beautiful yacht that will be your home for the next 6 hours. The fishing often takes place in the Atlantic Ocean in the area called the "outer harbor" (south of Long Beach; north of Long Branch). On occasion if weather and tides dictate the location will change. The Collins family has been in the fishing business in NYC for 2 generations.Visit their shop on 132 West 36th St if you want to buy your own gear for this trip. (not necessary as all gear is provided on the boat) This will be Miramar's 3rd time on the Capitol Princess and each time has been a lot of fun with great city views, a friendly crew, a delicious lunch and of course.... fishing! Your admission price will include: breakfast lunch soft drinks all necessary fishing gear bait FREE instructions if you aren't sure what you are doing. No experience needed! Full bar available to purchase adult beverages. The family that operates the Capitol Princess is welcoming back Miramar with a special promo code "SKIFISH19" to get 10% off the regular price!
