Join us to learn about the functional programming paradigm as applied in JavaScript.
About this Event
We will be covering the foundations necessary to begin writing JavaScript in a functional style.
Topics covered:
The philosophy of different programming paradigms: Imperative (e.g. Object-Oriented Programming) vs. Declarative (e.g. Functional Programming)
Core concepts in Functional Programming: side effects, pure functions, function composition via higher-order functions, immutability, and more
JavaScript's Native Array Methods: each, filter, map and reduce (among others)
Who this workshop is for:
This workshop is for learners with some programming experience, preferably with JavaScript. You should understand JavaScript syntax and fundamental concepts like arrays, objects, loops, and functions.

About the Instructor:
Eric Chiu is a Hack Reactor alumnus who currently works as a software engineer at The Home Depot. He graduated with a B.S. in chemical engineering and decided that the rig life was not for him and signed up for Hack Reactor. He enjoys running in the morning rain and snow and loves spending time with his puppy in the evening.
