Streaming Video in HTML5

Web browsers now play videos natively.. (do you remember the days when you needed a Flash Player?).

That's great for video formats that are pre-recorded, eg. MP4..

What streaming video formats area available, and how does that work? Let's do some research here to prepare for a web-cam streaming telepresence robot.
