About us
Moccasin Lake Nature Park opened in 1982. We are open from 10am to 5pm, Tuesday through Sunday. We are closed Mondays and most holidays.
We are always looking for volunteers (or just interested people to visit) who would like to make the Moccasin Lake Nature Park a better place for locals and guests of the City of Clearwater. We have beautiful trails, a small zoological collection of birds of prey, a pollinator garden, a nature center, picnic pavilion, garden lodge and some INCREDIBLE programs. The Clearwater Audubon Society, Pinellas Native Plant Society, The Florida Herb Society, Suncoast Herpetological Society, Hukyu Bonsai Society, Friends in Focus Photography Club and the Safety Harbor Garden Club all meet at the park. Please join us!

Before the meeting starts, mix and mingle with other "nature nerds" and enjoy light refreshments. The chapter has a lending library of books available for checkout and offers a selection of complimentary “how-to” flyers and brochures.Super Bowl XLIII Urban and Community Tree Planting Initiative
In 2009, as one of the events surrounding the Super Bowl in Tampa, nearly 2000 trees were planted. Will Moriaty will tell the tale.
Will Moriaty will give us the history of regional tree planting efforts that were spearheaded by the National Football League's Environmental Program and the Tampa Bay Reforestation and Environmental Effort, Inc. (T.R.E.E., Inc.) This project was part of Super Bowl XLIII, held on February 9, 2009 at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa.
Over 600 volunteers planted 1,955 trees of 31 varieties (all but 3 of the 1,955 were native) throughout the Tampa Bay Watershed. Sixty-two community organizations and local, state and federal governmental agencies participated in this massive effort.
Have volunteer plants? Bring some native plants from your yard that you want to share in a plant swap.
There will also be a Plant of the Month giveaway!
Everyone is always welcome. You do not have to be an FNPS member to attend!2 attendees
