What we're about
This is a group for parents of biracial or African American children who strive to offer their children the best advantages in life.Sometimes, this results in our children not having many representations of themselves on a day to day basis. Parents of trans-racially adopted children are also welcome.
This group is to serve as a place for us parents to discuss ways to keep our children grounded and secure in their identity despite being part of a minority in their home and/or academic environment . Eventually, we will share events where the children will see others like themselves in a casual atmosphere i.e . arts activities( Alvin Ailey, Museum trips etc. ), Park picnics, sports, philanthropy etc. Of course, sometimes , moms want to just unwind with a chat and a laugh and we'll have some of that too!
If you appreciate the idea behind J&J but not the hurdles then you should be right at home!
