What we're about

This is a group for those who live in the Monadnock region and would like to enjoy outdoor adventures in the company of good people. Moderate hikes on Mount Monadnock or other peaks, easier novice hikes/walks in the region such as Mount Monadnock easy to moderate trails, Gap Mountain, and easy grade nature trails; Paddling, kayaking, cross country skiing, downhill skiing & snowboarding and winter snowshoeing trips are just a few of the things you may find here. Winter hiking is also offered. Novice level and above are welcome - sorry no beginners without hiking experience.

For novice but experienced hikers interested in exploring the summits of the 4000 footers, the Monadnock Region can be a great introduction to the outdoors. With moderate hiking challenges (1000-2000 ft elevation gains) the regions well maintained trails are the perfect training grounds for people looking to get into shape to tackle the tall peaks. Looking for some R & R? The region offers amble-uninterrupted sounds of nature that will melt your daily stresses away. See you on the trail!

RSVP etiquette - When RSVPing to events we ask that you RSVP yes if you feel certain you can attend/participate. We understand you may sign up but other obligations or other issues suddently come up. We ask that if you change your RSVP please make the change as soon as you know or 2 days before the event so others can go in your place. We consider cancelling your RSVP the day of the event a NO SHOW. Frequent RSVP changes from yes to no that occur 3 or more consecutive times may result in a member remaining on the waitlist for the next event the member signs up for and will be offered a spot 36 hours before the event if room available (event organizer to make this decision). We also ask as a courtesy that you notify the organizer the reason you cannot attend.

Events Host/Event Organizers wanted! I encourage the members of this group to consider becoming an event host or event organizers. We need event organizers who are experienced for hiking, kayaking, cross country skiing, downhill skiing and cycling. To remain an active group, we need event organizers. Please private message organizer if interested. Please provide your phone number in the private message so we can have a very brief conversation.

Photo Policy - Safety of all members is our priority. For this reason, we require all members to have a profile photo of themselves that is forward facing where your face is able to be seen clearly. Our organizers need to recognize members at events. Members who do not have a recognizable and fairly current photo are not allowed on events. If a member does not have an approved photo for this meetup group, we will send a private message kindly asking to change it.

Active Membership - Active members are anyone in this group who has logged onto our page or participated in events over the last 18 months. Inactive members are people within this group who have not logged into the meetup page, participated in discussions or attended events in over 18 months. Any member who has not been active in our meetup group of 24 months (2 years) or more will be removed from the group due to inactivity. I understand life gets busy and you may be away from this group for months at a time but it is felt after 2 years you are not interested in this group, have other priorities, or you have other interests. We strive to have a more representative count of our active members so we can plan events and have the potential participation of members.
