What we're about

Monte Alto Hikers get together on Sunday mornings throughout the winter to enjoy each other's company in an outdoor adventure. The group convenes at Cafe Monte Alto in downtown Plymouth and sets out to enjoy local hikes in the lakes and mountains area of central NH. We choose trails that are user-friendly, allow group members to progress in fitness and hiking skills, and generally get us all home by mid-day. On days of good snow, there are options for cross country skiing and/or snow shoeing as well. A brunch venue may follow. Dogs are welcome if they play nicely with other dogs.

Special Note: CMA Hikers are committed to safe and social hiking and ascribe to the ethoi of "No one gets left behind" and we "Leave NO Trace" . We also take frequent rest/social moments and we Leave No Trace which means that we are careful to pack out everything we take in to all the places we visit. See Leave No Trace. (https://lnt.org/about)

Being safe includes being well prepared for the adventure with the 10 Essentials (https://www.nps.gov/articles/10essentials.htm), and for those in the lead to go at a pace so as to keep the group within sight or earshot, This prevents accidentally taking a wrong turns or leaving anyone behind. This way we are sure to care for ourselves, each other and the earth!

Consider purchasing a little safety insurance policy to cover you and/or your family for hiking in 2019. Learn more at: Hike Safe NH (https://www.nhfishandgame.com/HikeSafe.aspx).
