What we're about

Morning Startup - Perth - where people talk about startups.

If you're involved in a startup, or thinking about starting one, chances are you can learn from others that are doing and thinking the same.

Morning Startup is a fortnightly morning catchup where founders, potential entrepreneurs and others in the startup community (VCs and Angels welcome) get together to learn something interesting, get feedback on idea, vent frustrations, and meet some new friends in the game. We look forward to seeing you there!

You can contact the organisers either by sending a message through this meetup group, or via:

• contact@morningstartup.com

Here are some principles that govern how we make decisions about the group, member communications, and other fun stuff. Have something you'd like to share with our members? Read these principles first.

Morning Startup is run in the interest of its members by the organizers. We announce events, deals, and other information that we feel will be of interest or benefit to our members. We do not typically promote commercial interests to our members and we do not sell access to our membership list.

All Morning Startup members have the right to post on the Morning Startup website discussion forums. Play nice, please.

Morning Startup is not a commercial organisation. We do not charge membership fees. However, there are costs associated with running the group. If you'd like to help us offset these, please contact one of the organizers.

Startup Pitch Practice!

Pitch Practice is on again! We're giving you, the upcoming new startups of Perth, a chance to practice your pitch in front of the non-intimidating and supportive Morning Startup audience. Why pitch? Because communicating what your startup is about is an essential skill that only gets better with practice. Every pitch will teach you something about the way you tell your story, allowing you to refine it so it has an even bigger impact on the next audience. This is a great opportunity to get some practice under your belt in a casual, friendly atmosphere. The plan: Each startup gets three minutes to pitch and two minutes to answer questions from the audience. You'll be clapped out as soon as the 3-minute mark is reached. Only three minutes? WTF?! Yeah, that's right. Three minutes prevents waffling, keeps the audience listening, and gives more people the opportunity to have a go! You need a short, succinct pitch that clearly communicates: 1. The problem you're solving. 2. Who the customer is. 3. Why your startup is unique. 4. Can it be copied? Does it stand out? Is it interesting in some way? 5. The market opportunity. 6. How you are going to market/sell. 7. Call to action. Are you looking for investment, co-founders, talent, advice? Register to pitch Spaces are limited, so if you're interested in pitching, email us ASAP at [masked]. Include your contact details and a quick description of your startup and we'll be in touch! If you're reading this thinking "I should do it, but it's totally out of my comfort zone", then email us now ([masked]) before you give yourself another excuse not to. You won't regret it! (https://medium.com/the-mission/get-out-of-your-comfort-zone-your-success-depends-on-it-23f6be0f740d) Register to watch Even if you're not interested in pitching, please come along and be part of the audience to ask questions and give feedback. There will also be half an hour of general networking after the pitches to provide feedback one-on-one. Just hit the button on this page to tell us you're coming. So come along, bring a Voltage Espresso coffee (tell them Morning Startup sent you for a discount), and start the day inspired! It's free!

Founder Sundowner

Nowhereman Brewing Co

Calling all startup founders! On the first Wednesday of each month, let's get together for a tasty beverage or two, celebrate and/or commiserate the month that was, and share plans and ideas for the month yet to be! You might even meet your future Co-founder, Lead Programmer, or Chief Ninja of Ideation and Crypto Research. As Elon Musk could have once said, "All my success is due to drinking with other startup founders as often as possible". This is a very casual, monthly, after-work event, in addition to our fortnightly Morning Startup meetups at Spacecubed. So if you're not a morning person, this is for you! There will be no speakers or formalities. Just a bunch of startups, in a pub, having fun, and learning from each other. We may or may not have sponsors, so make sure you save up ahead of time to cover the cost of your own exotic cocktails and Perth-priced-drinks. (If your company is interested in putting on a bar tab or buying a pizza or two, in exchange for exposure to the Perth Startup Community through our extensive member list, let's talk! [masked] ) To find us, ask the bar staff for the Founder Sundowner table and they'll point you in the right direction. Look forward to seeing you there!

Things I Wish I Knew When I Started my Content Marketing Strategy

Ever heard of the saying “Content is King”? Well, it’s true. Startups just like yours have the ability to build a sales machine through sharing and creating awesome content with potential customers. On the 10 of July, learn how to build a content marketing strategy that actually works from KeepSpace’s Marketing Manager Simon Bruno. Simon is a marketer who not so long ago was himself trying to find out how all this content marketing "stuff" works. Powering through hours and hours of frustration working out what works and what doesn’t for startups just like yours. Simon will share the key lessons learned over the past 18 months at KeepSpace (https://www.keepspace.com.au). Including how to build a content strategy, how to come up with content ideas, content distribution, and six content marketing strategies used at KeepSpace to generate and nurture potential users. If you're ready to build your content and sales machine, grab a Voltage Espresso (https://www.facebook.com/voltageespresso/), along with your questions and ideas, and come along to this session with a content marketer who has persisted through the trial and error loop of making content marketing work for startups. About Simon Bruno Simon Bruno is the marketing manager at KeepSpace. Having graduated from Curtin in 2015 with a Bachelor of Commerce Degree (Maj.
