A Program on Portraiture and Lighting Techniques by Arik Gorban & Rick Kent

Details
Many photographers use artificial lighting as a last resort when there is low ambient light. The fear of dealing with complex lighting techniques or producing unnatural images focuses them on available light photography. However, today’s camera and lighting equipment can simplify the use of artificial lighting and enable you to produce quality, natural-looking images. In this program, Rick Kent and Arik Gorban will discuss and demonstrate the use of artificial lighting equipment in portrait photography.
The program will cover lighting equipment, light modifiers, and lighting techniques starting with a single on-camera flash and progressing to a studio setup with multiple light sources and large light modifiers (e.g., umbrellas). Basic posing techniques will also be covered. The equipment and techniques discussed will be demonstrated during the presentation.
Attendees will be able learn about the general types of lighting equipment and lighting techniques and the benefits of using them in portrait photography. Attendees will not need to have any previous experience with artificial lighting.
