Skye Hiking Week – May Bank Holiday Hiking the Isle of Skye
Price £595 Skye is one of the top locations in Scotland to visit for its spectacular hiking, stunning scenery and landscapes that will take your breath away. During this spectacular Skye hiking week we will aim to visit all the highlights of this amazing island. During our trekking week, we cover hiking trails from the North to the South, a Cuillin summit, the Quiraing, visit the famous Fairy Pools, the Old Man of Storr, hike the whole of the famous Trotternish Ridge and visit the glorious Camasunary Bay. We also stay at the Sligachan bunkhouse which is ideally placed for the famous bar at the ‘Slig’. The Island has a rich history and is a great destination for wildlife with the White Tailed Sea Eagle at the top of bird watchers lists. Otters, seals, whales, dolphins and red deer are just some of the other impressive creatures that can be seen on and around the Isle of Skye. This will be a hard hiking week for experienced and fit hikers. Some days we will be hiking over rough moorland with indistinct paths with significant ascent and descent. We will also hike to one of the summits on the famous Cuillin ridge which gives us stunning views of the whole of the island. On some days we will use local minibus transfers to the start or finish of our walks and the overall price is inclusive of these transfers. You can find more information by clicking the link to our website for full details and booking: _______________________________________________________________________ Overview Skye is a world class destination for walkers and climbers. The Island of Skye is 50 miles long and the largest of the Inner Hebrides and the capital is Portree. The Cuillin mountain range and ‘The Trotternish Ridge’ offer mountain hiking routes the equal of anywhere in the world. The Cuillin Range itself offers 12 Munros - peaks above 3000ft (914m) and is the most stunning mountain skyline in the UK. We will be using Portree as a base to hike and explore the northern part of the island during the first part of the Skye hiking week. This will include hiking sections of the Skye trail which takes us through the stunning landscape of the Quiraing and to the Old Man of Storr. We will then transfer to the Sligachan Inn bunkhouse for the next three nights where we have sole use. From here we can hike to the Fairy Pools and explore close up the famous Cuillin ridge. The Sligachan Inn is also famous for its Scottish hospitality, great atmosphere and its huge range of Scottish Whiskies and local beers. The final leg of our Skye hiking week then takes us southwards and we finish at Broadford hostel with views of the sea and glorious coast in the south. _________________________________________________________________________ Important Additional Information As well as spectacular, at times this will be a hard hiking week. The first two days in particular are long days over poorly marked trails, which may be boggy, uneven and difficult walking. You should therefore be an experienced and fit hiker when signing up to this trip. Scottish weather is also unpredictable and wet. You should therefore have fully waterproof jacket and trousers and worn in waterproof boots as an absolute minimum for this trip.

What we're about

Welcome to Mountain Hikes! Sociable & Friendly Guided Hiking Breaks & Holidays

We are now close to 10,000 Mountain Hikers including several Meetup groups, Facebook and Website followers and all weekends and treks are still personally run by Samantha Yen Yau and Kevin Blissett.

We focus on smaller group breaks of around 15 to 20, because we believe this is the ideal group size to manage safely and give everyone the opportunity to meet each other and make friends. We have run larger groups, but we feel they can become impersonal and more difficult to manage safely.

We also specialise in areas that we know well and love, as we think this gives us the ability to give a more personal view of the areas where we are walking. We live in the Lake District and so we organise several breaks every year to this beautiful part of the country. We also know and love Scotland, so run several breaks to our favourite places there as well.

Kevin is a fully qualified International Mountain Leader, so this allows us to lead groups to some of our favourite and best known locations in Europe including the Alps and Spain.

Tea & Homemade Cake
A popular feature of all of our weekends has become Yen's homemade cakes. This is a delicious and rewarding way to finish all of our hikes.

We welcome people of all nationalities and backgrounds, the only requirement is a love of the outdoors and a good level of fitness. Our hiking weekends, treks and yoga hiking weekends are aimed at people who are already reasonably fit and are happy to walk for most of the day in hilly and rocky environments.

RSVP numbers
You may notice that some breaks and trips are showing with more people booked than you can see on the Meetup page. This is because we also have other Meetup groups and our own website ( where we take bookings.

Other ways of following us and keeping up to date
We have a Facebook page so you can keep up to date with our latest events, activities and updates and the address of this page is:
This is where you can read our latest reviews by going to the reviews section of our Facebook Page.
