"MUSIC - Musicians United: Singers Instrumentalists Community" replaces the "Victoria Acoustic Music Lovers: VAML". I have decided to open up my doors to all types of musicians rather than limit it to just acoustic instruments. Some of the best musicians that have participated in VAML, preferred electric instruments. I enjoyed their support, participation and of course, their music. :o)

The main focus of this group is to provide support for musicians living in the Greater Victoria area. However, musicians from all areas are welcome.

Here are some of the activities that I would like to see:

• Regular weekly jam sessions. Each jam session would focus on a different genre, such as electric blues, acoustic blues, folk, light rock, jazz, etc.

• Lessons - both group and individual. We may be able to convince a few of our excellent local musicians to put on master classes.

• Support for new and returning musicians. We could support some of our own when they play at local establishments, either professionally or at open mics. We could also have our own open mic events to help prepare members for public open mic events.

• Other areas we could cover include singing and songwriting, computerized audio recording, and setting up and running of sound-reinforcement and lighting systems.

Its a big project and I would be happy to have help in putting it all together. You don't have to be a musician to join. :o)

Note: Victoria is notorious for its cliches and for people who do not follow through with their commitments. If you have agreed to attend a meeting, please do not cancel at the last moment or not show up. This practice is very disrespectful.

The Musician's Pledge

Because I am a well-behaved musician, I listen and follow directions, use self-control, respect people, instruments, and materials and always do my best.

Because I am a world-class musician, I listen attentively to music of many different styles and historical periods, and respect the music of other cultures.

Because I am a performing musician, I use my musical skills to the best of my ability and contribute to the group in my highest capacity.
