Asylum Game Jam - October 11th - 13th!

It's October... and that means it's time to get fearful. Perhaps even a little horrific! Welcome boils and ghouls to the first ever Asylum Game Jam, a horror game jam!

Oh, but this isn't just some usual 'let's cut open a few people and see their insides' simple jam. There are rules here, kiddies! Well, one rule. Two if you count 'no killing the other attendees', but who am I to say you can't have a hobby? Uwe-he-he-he! No, the one rule here - no mental illnesses. Why? Well let me pass the bone... er, mic.. to the founders of the Asylum Jam for them to give their own description....

It is something a great deal of the world live and cope with, yet are increasingly hesitant to reveal due to negative stigmatization in media, compounded by lack of general awareness about the variance and truth of suffering from a mental illness.

Horror is usually derived from the unknown and what we do not understand— and mental illness is one of these subjects where the general public lacks knowledge and insight. Many horror games use the negative portrayal of those who suffer from mental illness as extremely violent or sadistic, usually as the villain or antagonist, as an easy crutch to rest their story, characters and motivations on.

Asylum Jam is here to prove that we do not have to utilize a negative portrayal of mental health, medical professionals or medical institutes to create a good horror experience for a gamer!

Westwood has once again allowed us use of their facilities for this absolutely horrific event. Bring your most terrible ideas and a few fiends to partner up with - it's sure to be a grisly weekend! Ha-HAHAHAHAH!
