Details

We will descend down the Devil Backbone trail. There will be no sweeper. Must know the trail.

Description: The beginning of our hike will be following the service road toward the San Antonio Falls. At the first switchback, we will have a great view of the San Antonio Fall. We will continue on the service road for about another .3 miles, before proceeding upward on Baldy Bowl/Ski Hut trail to Register Ridge Trail. Continue upward to Devils Backbone . From there it will be a push for another 1 miles to reach the summit. Once at the summit, we will break for lunch/snack while enjoying the panoramic view from the highest point of the San Gabriel Mountains. After our rest at the summit, we will head down the North Backbone to Dawson, over to Pine and back the way we came. Descent will be via Devils Backbone to the Mt Baldy Notch. From the Baldy Notch, we will continue down the service road to the trailhead. For those who want to take a faster road, they can either take the ski lift down. The cost of ski lift down is about $12. Check Groupon for promotion.
