Our hike starts in the Angeles National Forest at the Islip Saddle parking lot at 6593 ft elevation. The trail head is on the south side of Highway 2 across from the parking lot. There are signs posted. We will hike 2.5 miles to the Little Jimmy Campground at 7,500 ft elevation. Little Jimmy has 16 campsites and they are available on a first come first served basis. Two pit toilets are available.
If you cant make it at 11on Friday, don't worry, the trail-head is right across the street from the parking lot and is easy to follow to camp so just leave a comment if you will be coming in late so we know to expect you.
No running water at the camp ground but there is a year-round spring with a pipe 1/4 mile away that can be a water source. Filter or treat the water your option. Fires are only permitted in the designated fire pits.
What to bring: Bring everything you need to camp out for two nights, Tent or shelter, sleeping bag, food for meals and water container. Bear canisters are not required but this is is an active bear area so plan on hanging your food. Friendly dogs are welcome.
Driving directions: Take 210 freeway to Highway 2 NORTH and, from that junction, go 41 miles up Highway 2. ABOUT A MILE AFTER YOU PASS THE TUNNELS, ISLIP SADDLE PARKING LOT WILL BE ON YOUR LEFT. The trail head is on the south side of Highway 2 across from the parking lot. There are signs posted. If you plan on driving to Islip Saddle you'll need an Adventure pass to display for parking. You can purchase an Adventure Pass in advance from most area sporting goods stores ($5 for the day, $30 for the year).
