Join us for a day at Channel Islands National Park where we should have the opportunity to photograph the Santa Cruz Island Fox, Santa Cruz Scrub Jay and other wonderful sights. Crossing the channel should give us the opportunity to see dolphins and perhaps migrating whales. With the recent rains, I am hoping that the island will be green and lush with vegetation.
You will be responsible for booking your own trip to the island. Be sure to book early as their are limited number of seats available on the boat. RSVP to this meet up does not guarantee you a seat on the boat, you must book your own trip to the island. At the time of this writing there were 25 seats available. We will be meeting at the Island Packers Boat launch area at 8:00 AM for check-in (see the address below). We will be departing from Ventura, arriving East Santa Cruz (Scorpions) Monday April 24th at 9:00 AM Returning/departing from East Santa Cruz (Scorpions) Monday April 24th at 4:00PM. Be sure your reservation is made for these departure/arrival times and locations.
The cost for the trip should be as follows:

ISLAND PACKERS REQUIRES THE FOLOWING FOR CHECK-IN
Please arrive 45 minutes before your departure time to check in. Please have emergency contact phone ready when you reach the check-in counter. Day visitors will carry all items onto the boat. Please no items over 45 lbs, this includes ice chests. Parking is limited.
PREPARING FOR YOUR TRIP
All Trips
· Food Service is available on the boat. Cash or credit cards are accepted
· Wear low heel rubber soled shoes with good tread. (No high heels)
· Dress casually and in layers of clothing for cold and/or warm weather. Sunscreen is suggested.
· Bring a warm jacket/coat and hat. A lightweight raincoat is suggested for sea spray in the winter.
· Cameras and binoculars are great to bring along.
· Check with your doctor for appropriate sea sickness medication if you feel it necessary.
Island Landing Trips
· You should bring lunch, snacks and beverages for your time ashore.
· Pack food in closed containers or day packs for protection from animals and birds while on the island.
CANCELLATION POLICY
For reservations of 1-19 you must cancel or reduce your passenger count at least 72 hours prior to your departure time to receive a refund. Cancellations must be made by calling Island Packers at 805-642-1393. For reservations of 20 or more please review your service agreement for full policy details.
WEATHER CANCELLATION POLICY
In case of unfavorable weather or sea conditions, Island Packers will cancel at 5:30 AM on the day of your trip. On the morning of your departure, after 5:30 AM, please call 805-642-1393, select option 4 and listen to the recorded message for the status of your trip. Island Packers will not call you if weather prevents us from going.
SAFETY ABOARD THE VESSEL
Weather in the Santa Barbara Channel is unpredictable, and can be rough. The vessel you will be going on is Coast Guard inspected and is operated by an experienced captain and crew. If you come properly prepared you should have an enjoyable trip and one you will long remember. Please dress as indicated, and bring only those items you need. Even if you are experienced on boats, please hold onto hand rails when moving about or standing, and watch how and where you step. Island Packers cannot guarantee landing at times when weather and sea conditions prevent it.

After a long day out on the island, we will probably go to dinner at one of the local eateries in the harbor area around Island Packers before heading home.
By sending in an RSVP and joining this meetup event hosted by the NANPA Nature Photography Group of the Central Coast of California, I am also agreeing to the terms of the following release and waiver of liability, which shall be binding on my heirs, executors, administrators, successors, and assigns.
