First Annual Labor Day Tour de Greenway Slow Ride

Details
This is a leisurely tour of part of the Nashville Greenway system and the Music City Bikeway to the Nashville Farmers Market and Five Points in East Nashville. Some of this will be riding on the street but in relatively low traffic areas.
This ride will be guided by the principles of Grant Petersen in Just Ride (http://www.rivbike.com/product-p/bo17.htm) , his book about how to be an “unracer”. One of his admonitions is “don’t count miles”. So we won’t. He also says “don’t overthink the underwear” which means to dress comfortably and that lycra is not required. You are welcome to join us for just the ride in the park or meet us somewhere for any part of the route. No one will be left behind.
Part 1
9:30 am
We leave Shelby Bottoms Nature Center for a leisurely morning tour of the Bottoms and maybe Cornelia Fort Airport where we pedal in a big circle and look for coyote and deer. About 8 miles but who’s counting?
Part 2
11:00 am
Leave the Nature Center and proceed to ride over the Shelby Street Bridge and up the Greenway to the Nashville Farmers Market for lunch. About 4 miles but who’s counting?
Part 3
1: 30 pm
We will ride to the Antique Archaeology (http://antiquearchaeology.com/antique_archaeology_nashville_tn.html) store at 1300 Clinton to check out the unique antiques from the popular American Pickers TV show.
Part 4
2:30 pm
We will ride to Five Points in East Nashville for ice cream at the World Famous Pied Piper Creamery (http://thepiedpipercreamery.com/). This will require riding on Woodland Street at some point so be ready for a little traffic. We will then return to Shelby Park.
NOTE: A Tennessean reporter will be on the ride and is preparing an article on Slow Riding. He is bringing a photographer.
