The Best Hike in Europe: The Tour of Mont Blanc - France, Italy & Switzerland.
The most popular and famous trek in Europe. The Tour du Mont Blanc is a fabulous walk circumnavigating western Europe's highest mountain, Mont Blanc. A mix of beautiful valley's , Alpine meadow's, high mountain passes and soaring glaciated peaks. The walk passes through France, Italy & Switzerland with a mixture of hotel, b&b's, rustic mountain hut accommodation and camping through out the trek. Mont Blanc lays claim to the title of Monarch of the Alps. At 4807m (15,771ft) the summit stands a good 3,700m (12,000ft) above Chamonix, and is 3km higher than the nearest habitation on the Italian flank. Mont Blanc is more than just the highest mountain in Europe west of Caucasus. It’s a mountain range, compact and complete in itself. According to Roger Frison-Roche, this beautiful 25km-long wall of rock, snow and ice has some 400 summits and more than 40 glaciers that scour the heartland and add lustre to every scene. Carrying the frontiers of three countries, France, Italy and Switzerland, it is moated by seven valleys – those of the Arve, Montjoie, des Glaciers, Veni, the two Vals Ferret (one Italian, the other Swiss), and the Vallée du Trient – valleys that define the limits of the range, and through which winds the route of the Tour of Mont Blanc (TMB), a trekker’s route that revels in some of the most exquisite mountain scenery of all. Making a complete circumnavigation of the Mont Blanc massif, the Tour du Mont Blanc (TMB) is one of Europe's greatest long distance treks. Combining wooded trails, high altitude meadows and rugged mountain passes, the 170km circuit provides a world-class journey through stunning alpine scenery. The trail allows three distinct cultures, and more importantly cuisines, to be sampled. Accommodation - Hotels and Mountain Huts. NOTE: THIS IS A SELF-GUIDED EVENT. I am NOT a qualified International Mountain Leader. You can go it alone or together as a group. Cost: There will be a charge of £55 per person (NBH costs with PayPal fee) for the entire event, which averages £3 per day. All other costs, which include flights, accommodation, food, drink and excursions are priced accordingly throughout the entire duration of the trip. Each member will pay the providers directly depending on their requirements. For example: camping vs b&b, meals, drinks or excursions, etc. Each members costs are whatever they pay the providers each day throughout the trip. Basically, the overall cost is whatever meets your requirements.
