Hike in to a proposed MST Thru-Hiker Campsite with a Presentation & Dinner Meal

Drive approximately 1 mile past Chewning Middle School 5001 Red Mill Rd, Durham, NC to 5901 Red Mill Rd & trailhead.
From FLT Sect 22/23 Red Mill Rd Trailhead, hike in a little over a mile South-West on Section 23 toward Penny's Bend , then leave the trail on a MARKED feeder trail to view the proposed potential campsite.
After introducing the property owner, Jeff Brewer will give an overview of the process of obtaining access & the responsibilities that FMST & the Falls Lake Trails Leaders will assume.
FMST will create a volunteer working group to coordinate & facilitate the task of creating a campsite.
The Thru-Hiker Campsite improvements & maintainence will require a new team of FLT Leaders. This will be a very important responsibility to assure a safe place to meet the needs for overnite rest of MST Thru-Hikers.
Will & Donna Farmer will be serving a hot dinner meal including harvest from their garden & we will also have time to enjoy the surroundings & discuss this ambitious, but very much needed improvement.
Then we will hike out before it gets dark!
