All genders may attend our meetups.
Agenda

5:45 – "Demystifying Data Science" by Dr. Alyson Wilson
6:30 – Networking / Cocktail
Abstract:
Data science, machine learning, and artificial intelligence are the new buzz words -- they are being touted as the solution for everything from curing cancer to self-driving cars. Have you ever wondered how data science related to traditional statistics methods? Is data science just another name for "big data"? In this introductory overview talk, we will begin by discussing what data science is (and is not). We will then discuss some of the key principles of data science practice and conclude by examining the classes of problems and methods that are included in data science.
