As part of GlaxoSmithKline’s RTP Footprint Reduction project, GSK is decommissioning network equipment and offering Cisco 4506 switch chassis to the nonprofit community.   Donation of the equipment will be made to IRS designated 501c3 organizations, and each organization must pick up the equipment from GSK through pre-arranged appointments.

About the Equipment

·         Cisco 4506 is a large network chassis for providing data network connectivity to end point devices: Laptops, servers, desktop computer, printers, etc. using standard Ethernet connections (RJ45).

·         Each 4506 can provide up to[masked]/100mb Ethernet network connections when fully loaded.

·         The equipment is not appropriate for use or reuse in the “Smartworking” areas

·         These devices are very reliable and many have been in continuous service for 4 -5 years without interruption or failure.

·         There is some redundancy built into each chassis – redundant power supplies and multiple blades providing 48 port network ports each.

·         While the equipment has performed exceptionally well and has many good years of life, much of it is 8 years old and will not support network connectivity requirements of coming technology such as IP Telephony.

·         Each chassis requires dual 240v 20a (L5 20 plug) power and is rack-mounted.

·         Client access blades are: EOL (End of life) and EOS (End of support) by Cisco

·         For an organization that is not looking to power new (POE) phones or cutting edge network connectivity – this equipment will work very well.  Again all have been in service for many years with zero problems and will continue to do so for many more.

·         The client access blades also provide “pre standard” POE (Power over Ethernet)

·         Additional technical information on the device would be available from Cisco web site.

Contact by Email

·         Mr. Leland Jones at [address removed]

·         Include the organization Federal Tax I.D. number, contact name, and phone number.

·          Organizations will be required to sign a release upon receipt of the equipment.  There are no warranties offered on the equipment.
