• NE:Tech - November 2020 - Security Month

    Online event

It's the NE:Tech SECURITY MONTH! With so much of our data being stored in the cloud, the need for data security is more important now than ever. That's why this month Faye Ellis and Jim Hooker will be joining us to share their experiences with data security and help us to prepare ourselves for the journey ahead. NE:Tech will be hosted online via the attached Zoom link. Although we would like to return to face-to-face meetups, the health and safety of our members is a top priority. We are paying close attention to the government guidelines and will return to physical meetups when it is safe and sensible to do so. A little about our speakers and their talks: Faye Ellis - Senior Technical Instructor @ ACloudGuru --------------------------------------------------------- * Tips and Best Practices for the AWS Security Specialty Certification * Get the lowdown on how to prepare for the AWS Security Specialty Certification and pass this difficult and sought after certification exam the very first time! We will identify the benefits of gaining the certification, explore the Security Specialty exam guide and the amazing free resources that can help you to prepare for the exam including looking at some sample questions and my own tips for studying. A little about Faye: I've been an instructor at ACloudGuru for 2 years. I've worked in IT for around 20 years, mainly in financial services, banks and stock exchanges in various roles including IT Support, DevOps and Architecture. So I understand the difficulties and frustrations of trying to keep up with the latest technologies! I live in London with a very tall man and a really short dog. I love gardening, running and experimenting in the kitchen! --- Jim Hooker - Head of IT Security @ Newcastle Building Society --------------------------------------------------------- * Cyber Security in the Supply Chain * Your next hack is coming from your friends Whilst you can have great security technology and processes in your business, your suppliers might not be so careful with your data. In this talk I will tell you a story of where there may be flaws in your data security and what you should be mindful of in your next tech venture. A little about Jim: My background is primarily in mobile security for the finance industry. However have been tinkering with and scrutinising mobile and infrastructure security for more than 10 years in range of industries. --------------- Big thanks to our sponsor Scott Logic --------------- NE:Tech events are intended for education, networking, and community.
