2nd Annual New England Mineral Conference 2014

2nd Annual NEMC - New England Mineral Conference
Friday May 9 - Sunday May 11, 2014

Grand Summit Resort Hotel & Conference Center

• Educational Lectures and Presentations

• Displays and Exhibits

• Dealers and Miners

• NEMC / MMGM Poster Session Contest, Grades 3-12

• Silent Auction to benefit Conference

• Sunday Field Trip - Location announced Sunday May 11th

• NEMC PRIVATE PREVIEW TOUR of the Maine Mineral and Gem Museum in Bethel, Maine

This is an exceptional opportunity (Yes IMHO! "In my humble opinion") to meet & learn from Rock Minded people ... well  ... um ... just like us! Do you have a specimen from Maine you just have not quite been able to identify? Or do you have a quenching thirst and unrelenting desire for any and all mineral knowledge? You just may get that answer you have been looking for! This is what they have to say about their organization.

About NEMC

"A group of like-minded mineral miners, collectors, enthusiasts and scientists have collaborated to form NEMA, in order to reach out to everyone in New England (and beyond) who is interested in the mineralogy found in this area of the country. Our goal is to bring everyone together, to share information and knowledge ... and to learn from each other in the process. Whether a beginner or a professional, everyone is welcome!"

"NEMC has been born from the void left behind after the
regrettable loss of the annual Maine Mineral Symposium (of 22 years) in Augusta, Maine. With their blessings, we are proud to continue their outstanding accomplishments with our own efforts."

You can read all about NEMC, a division of NEMA here.

Please Hollar.....If any of you were ever fortunate enough to attend one or more of the Maine Mineral Symposiums, please feel free to share your experiences.

Had hoped to have my new Subie by then, but it looks like that won't happen. My old Dodge can't handle trips that long anymore :(
But when I get the AWD, will be making some trips.

Unfortunately we will not be able to attend. I was truly looking forward to this event and will have to make it next year. If any other organizers would like to host this and meetup with anyone else going, that would be great.

This Meetup has been posted twice, once by me & once by Jill :) I believe Jill is going to reschedule the May 10th Wes/Tem trip and the double post will be deleted; I'll post more when I'm sure.

This trip conflicts with our planned May 10th Wes/Tem trip. Some members may want to do both by registering for the conference and attending on Fri & Sun, leaving Sat open for the Wes/Tem trip. I'm not sure, so, maybe we can discuss it? Other options? Maybe a second trip to the Wes/Tem? etc. With more and more events happening as the season hits, this will most likely not be the only conflict. Thanks for any input.
