Level 2 (plus) paddle from Great Island Common on Newcastle Island at the mouth of the Piscataquis River in Portsmouth, NH. Destination on calm evenings will be Wood Island/ Whaleback Light and/or possibly Pepperrell Cove.
Repeats weekly every Thursday from 5 PM to 7:30 PM. Park closes at 9PM Daily.
Windy conditions will seek more protected waters. Waves over 1 ½ feet or winds greater than 10 knots will dictate an alternate meeting site on Little Harbor. Small Craft advisories will cancel this event.
Weekly trips can also include wet exit/rescue practice and rolling. If you intend to practice rolling please wear a helmet.
Points of interest and destinations in addition to Wood Island and the Portsmouth Light include Fort Constitution, NH Coast Guard Station, Fort Stark and Wentworth by the Sea.
This trip is open to experienced intermediate paddlers with minimum 14ft sea kayaks with bulkheads and perimeter lines.

Note. Depending upon daily beach crowding parking near the rest rooms may not be available. Drop your kayak on the lawn then find a park space. You may also need a cart to get your boat down to the beach. Meet at the beach at 5:00 PM and assist boaters as they arrive. On the water by 5:30 sharp.
