Sheep Hill Observatory "Save the Dome" Fundraiser Event!
Please join us for this special night of stargazing and more!
We've had some amazing events at Sheep Hill Observatory for the last four years. They've generously and graciously shared their passion and knowledge with us, sometimes under very cold conditions :)
Over the years of wear and tear from use, weather and vandalism, the Observatory is now in desperate need of costly repairs. This will enhance and increase it's preservation, quality and safety for all of us.
What better way to show our appreciation and return the favor in helping them achieve their fundraising goals, then to gather together for an amazing night of star gazing, refreshments, talks presenting more information about what you're viewing and more!!
This may also be a good time to spot meteors. We'll be viewing during the time of Orionids Meteor shower. It's peak being: Oct. 20-22.
**Please keep in mind that this is a weather sensitive event. In the event of rain or clouds covering the sky, the event could be canceled. You really can't predict the weather until the day of, as a result, it makes this event difficult to plan in advance. Please check the weather for the Boonton, NJ area the day of the event. If canceled, I will try to give you as much notice as possible without canceling too early and risk missing a clear night. *Please see rain date below... I would suggest making back-up plans "just in-case".
Rain Date: Sat. Oct. 25th @8pm
*This event will be "Outdoors" the temperature is always cooler on top of the hill. Please dress appropriate for the weather.
*Keep in mind, there are NO RESTROOM facilities on the premises.
We may be spending 1-2 hours there but at your leisure.
There will be other guides and their telescopes outside the dome to broaden our viewing opportunities.
You may need a flash light to help you see in the parking area but please be sure NOT to point it up in the direction of the dome or telescopes...Thank you!

The dome will be on your left. If the lot is full, you can park in the first lot. Please keep the spaces tight to leave room for others. It's very dark up there and aren't any lights. You may need a flashlight. Please, DO NOT point them up or in the direction of the telescopes or toward the dome...Thank you!
